Update on a few projects.

Yesterday I cut off another of my air-layers from a Japanese black pine.  This tree was air-layered using the girdling method with a wire.  This is probably the largest air-layer that I have removed to date.  Look at the base of this air-layer.  It is nearly two inches at the base.  I also took a picture of  a boxwood that I have been working on.  I pruned it back before I took a picture of the tree.  If you go back to an earlier blog, you will see the original post and what the tree looked like before I began the work.  Click on either photo and you will see a close up of the picture.

Success at REBS show!

The REBS show in Santa Rosa was a success.  I sold a lot of trees, bought a few trees and bought a bunch of used pots and books.  I also met a lot of nice people.  As usual they had a wonderful display.  If you go to the REBS website, you can see last years display and in a few months you will be able to see this years display.  The Redwood Empire Bonsai club always does a bang up job with the displays.  As usual they were wonderful.  They also had a very full consignment area.  They also have goodies available.  They also have a silent auction and a raffle.  It is always a show that should be on everyone's must-attend list.  I just drove six hours and I am ready for a little shut eye......zzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Packed up and ready to go!

Today I filled my van with trees to attend the REBS show this weekend.  It is one of the best club shows that you will ever see.  If you are in the neighborhood, stop by and say hello.  The event is held at the Veterans building in Santa Rosa.  The address is 1351 Maple Ave. in Santa Rosa.  I am looking forward to this event for many reasons.  They always put on a wonderful display of bonsai.  I also like to visit their consignment area to add trees to my collection.  They also have a silent auction and last year I won a few bottles of very nice wine.  This is the last show that I will be attending until the GSBF show in Sacramento.  I better get to bed.  Tomorrow will be a very long drive.  It will take five hours according to my Garmin, however with the traffic, it should take around six hours......

Prepping trees for the REBS Show

The Redwood Empire Bonsai Show is coming up next weekend.  I have been working on getting trees ready.  I am going to be a vendor at the show and hope to see many of you  there.  The REBS show is one of the better shows you will see.  There are many wonderful bonsai on display.  There are also many vendors and great demo's.  I have been finishing up on pruning pines in the field.  I have also had many customers to help and I had a couple of calls to prune trees.  There are not enough hours in the day to accomplish all that needs to be done.  So, I have to prioritize what I want to accomplish.  I have had visits from family and that has been quite fun.
