I have uploaded a few of our trees in our private collection.  I will try to update these when I have the time.  I will also be taking photo's around the nursery from time to time to give you a virtual tour of the nursery.  If you would like to see a close up of any of the photo's, click on them to enlarge the photo.

Rain in May?

We have had drizzle in May, but I don't recall receiving any measurable amount of rain in May.  We have had about half an inch of rain in the past 4 days.  I have still been weeding and feeding the field.  I feed the trees after I weed around the base of each tree.  More of the same for tomorrow.  I am going to a school for their career day.  This is the third career day that I have done this year.  Maybe in the future we will have a few more bonsai growers?  Perhaps they can take over my business when I am ready to retire.............

Pictures of twisted cork elms!

I finally had some time yesterday afternoon to take some pictures of the twisted cork elms in the field.  I am not a photographer, so some of the photo's do not have much detail of the twist.  One of the pictures clearly shows the twist.  I started these elms about 18 months ago.  The were about 1/8 of an inch in diameter(If they were any bigger, they would be harder to twist.).  They are now about 3/4 of an inch in diameter.  Click onto the photo's and you will see an enlargement of the picture.  Tomorrow we will be at the Santa Maria Town Center Mall.  We will be in the entrance area of where Gottschalks used to be.  There will be different types of Japanese entertainment along with displays.  We will be displaying a few of our trees.  This is for awareness of the tsunami in Japan.  The Red Cross will be accepting donations.  They are planning other events to raise money in the future.
